A khaki blazer/sport coat is something you should have in your closet for the summer. Summer is a time for light colors, especially with suits and suit separates. Chambray blue, light seersucker, light grey, white, etc are all suit colors that can be spotted on the urban street during the season.
I'll admit, it's harder than not to build up the courage to walk out of the house in a full white suit. If you're feeling that way even toward khaki, then starting with a khaki blazer/sport coat is the best way to get into the groove. A blazer is just a single piece--you can match your khaki blazer with navy chinos, jeans, white pants, almost anything on the bottom (without feeling too uniform in all khaki).
A khaki blazer is unique because it can easily be worn both to the office and off duty with the same look-- It's a more relaxed version of the typical navy blazer.
So, take it from me--pick up a khaki blazer (like this one from J.C. Penny that I got for $30).
- Light colors for suits & suit separates come with the territory during summer--jump on it.
- A khaki blazer is an easy place to start without going for a full summer suit.
- Wear your khaki blazer to the office or out on the street with friends.
- A pocket square will bring additional sartorial flavor to your look.
